Description

Reporting to the respective Boards of Directors of the Association and the MLS, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all administration and management of both. The CEO positions the organizations based on envisioned real estate industry needs. The CEO is visionary, identifies and articulates trends and their impact on business and industry, and recommends actions.

Governance and Operations

Collaborates with the boards on plans, policies, bylaws, and programs that will further objectives and strategies of the association and MLS. Ensures that policies and bylaws are flexible enough to allow the organizations to move forward in response to changing industry environment. Ensures compliance with policies of the National Association of REALTORS® and the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS®.

Makes decisions for all operational matters. Develops and recommends specific objectives and plans for implementation of boards’ goals.

Maintains official minutes of the Boards of Directors and other official association and MLS meetings.

Exercises control of budget and all arrangements to meet financial objectives.

Executes contracts and commitments as authorized by the Boards of Directors or within established budgets and/or policies.

Participates in strategic planning process and is accountable for plan implementation.

Multiple Listing Service

Manages services offered through the MLS to meet member needs and provides start of the art capabilities. Ensures training and technical support for MLS participant members. Builds and maintains financial viability to promote growth and generates increased revenue.

Staffing

Establishes organizational structure and has authority for employee matters, including recruiting, hiring, orientation and training, diversity, equity and inclusion, performance management, promotions and separations. Maintains market-based compensation and benefits.

Delegates day-to-day operations and activities to staff as appropriate.

Creates a culture of respect and service for members and staff.

Member Services

Plans, organizes, and directs membership promotion and retention programs and evaluates results, and recommends policies, procedures and actions to achieve membership goals.

Plans and executes all communications to membership, including newsletters, general mailings, news release, etc., that are responsible to member needs.

Conducts research and related projects on subjects deemed of importance to the membership and prepared and publishes the results.

Develops education programs, including continuing licensure education to advance the professional, technical, and managerial skills of the membership, operating within budgeted program objectives approved by the Board of Directors and considers future needs.

Develops and maintains new member recruitment and retention programs with targeted orientation methods. Actively creates outreach to specific targeted real estate groups and, potential allied industries.

Provides leadership in professional standards enforcement and certification efforts; fosters industry-wide ethical standards with other allied real estate groups affecting member business.

Directs marketing programs and social media engagement based on current and future trends and to achieve organizational strategies.

Identifies opportunities to generate non-dues revenue for both organizations.

Internal and External Relations

Takes a proactive role in analyzing, addressing, and impacting legal and regulatory issues. Represents the organization in any and all local government matters affecting the real estate industry.

Collaborates with leaders to recruit, develop, and train volunteer leaders; maintains a strong organizational culture that builds partnerships between staff and volunteers.

Actively participates in positive and collaborative relationships with local, state and national associations and seeks leadership roles in state and national meetings.

Ensures that leading brokers view the association, the volunteer leadership and CEO as valued resources and industry leaders.

Analyzes, addresses and impacts legal and regulatory issues and proactively frames the regulatory environment.

Displays a high level of political action skills, including skills in fundraising, member mobilization and candidate development.

Positions the association as a recognized leader in governmental advocacy in the local community and in partnership with state and/or national associations.

Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • 5-7 years/ experience working in for- profit and non-profit organizations
  • Advanced proficiency in understanding of technology and trends
  • Basic understanding of real estate industry preferred
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Visionary, forward thinker
